NICE Global and SOS Children’s Village Come Together For ‘Fun in the Sun’ Event

It was indeed fun in the sun!

The children and young people of the SOS Children’s Village, Barrett Town spent the day on Friday, July 13, 2018 enjoying an array of outdoor events and refreshment on the grounds of their Village. The fun day, dubbed “Fun in the Sun”, was put on by the BPO company NICE Global LLC. Employees of NICE could be seen throughout the day engaging the children of the village in various outdoor games such as kite flying, Chinese skipping, educational trivia, Simon Says, musical chairs, dancing, football, volleyball, alongside a bounce-a-bout and a blow-up pool.

The fun day, which began at 11 in the morning, was officially opened with a prayer by Operations Manager, Miquel Trowers and was followed by a welcome and opening remarks by Human Resources Manager for NICE, Antwenett M. Burchell. Ms. Burchell explained the genesis of the NICE initiative with the SOS Children’s Village Barrett Town which came out of the company’s desire in May to have its Labour Day project as an outreach effort. She shared that SOS Children’s Village Barrett Town was selected as the beneficiary of this year’s outreach effort and an invitation was later extended to a group from NICE to tour the facility by the Village Director, Mr. Raye Anthony.

The tour sought to identify projects that the Company could assist with. The team was impressed with, and was inspired by the tremendous commitment shown by the caregivers. She shared that the NICE team was moved by the warm reception of the children, and knew immediately that they wanted to contribute more than a Labour Day project. The HR manager elaborated that the organization has since committed to the overall welfare of the community, and is in the process of planning other events with the Village. One of NICE Global’s ultimate goals is create a job placement program to provide employment opportunities for the young people in the program.

In addition to various donations of stationery, toys, board games, and clothing from the corporate sponsors, the Company-wide initiative was able to raise $140,000.00 which was presented to the Village.

Mr. Anthony, Village Director for the SOS Children Villages Barrett Town lauded the initiative and expressed his gratitude to the team for selecting SOS Children’s Villages Barrett Town for this project. He said that the children and young people were extremely thrilled, and that he was looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with NICE, and would encourage other organizations to support the Village in similar ways.

Spot prizes and giveaways were made throughout the day to the children by Mr. Shoaib Shaffee, the Site Director for NICE Global, who was also the MC for the day. “Shoaib Shaffee has been a true champion of giving back to the community, and Friday was another wonderful example of his philanthropic ways. His passion for charitable giving has become contagious within the organization. We couldn’t be more proud to support the entire team in these endeavors and are looking forward to working with more organizations where help is needed,” said Paul Herdsman, Co-Founder and COO of NICE Global.

The event was endorsed by NICE Global’s corporate partners who came on board in support of the initiative. Their patronage was overwhelming and came in the form of various gifts and donations to the Village.
